Pho Hoa served the best bowl of pho I've ever eaten in my life. If you're planning to have just one bowl of pho for your entire Vietnam trip, this is it. If this doesn't satisfy you, I don't know what will. The prices are steeper than those you get on the streets, but we thought it was well worth it. The whole place was brimming with character (and locals), despite the fact that it was featured in lonely planet as a place popular with foreigners. This is as authentic an eatery as it gets (and looks).
Pho Tai (Pho with Raw Beef)
I had the Pho Tai, where the beef is served raw and cooked to perfection in the hot broth. The beef was great, but what really sets Pho Hoa apart is the broth. It was amazing - intensely flavourful yet light at the same time. There's a plate of you char kway or fried chinese cruller on every table (5,000 dong per piece), and even though they were far from crispy after being left on the table for so long, we shared one and really liked dunking it in the soup, letting it soak up all the goodness, and then devouring it along with the noodles.
Pho Bo Chin Nac (Pho with Well Done Beef Brisket)
M had the Pho Bo Chin Nac, and the beef brisket was excellent - beefy with just the right amount of bite. Again, the broth blew us away, and we left marking this place as one we would definitely return to the next time we head back to Saigon.
