Chic and Relaxed
Singapore's drinking scene is bubbling up, isn't it? Feels like there's a new, snazzy bar every other day, each one seemingly outdoing the last. I feel like I've been chasing them too, one after another, each time hoping for nothing more than to 'transport' myself out of reality into sweet delirium for a few bright hours.
Kaya Toast Cocktail, $19
Bitters & Love is chic but unpretentious enough for you to unwind with real conversations. Not the witty one-liner conversations you shout over loud music. I mean, I love the latter social scene but sometimes all I want is to kick back and well, relax. Plus, they will spin cocktails out of any of your whims - how's that! I do like it when my drink is all my own. Although, their Kaya Toast concoction is something I will gladly give up my autonomy for - just saying. Tastes pretty much like what I would expect Harry Potter's Butter Beer to taste like, complete with adorable miniature kaya toasts.
Bespoke Cocktails
To be honest, I can't even remember what we had anymore - I think there's a whisky sour somewhere... But everything was exactly what we wanted. Just wish they were a tad stronger - although I'm sure all we had to do was ask. Give it a shot if you're looking for a wine bar vibe with bespoke cocktails. Also, for those who are lucky enough to work in the area - Bitters & Love is Shoebox Canteen by day, serving delicious and homely creations that changes monthly. I'm pretty keen to try out their July menu, really - Beer Battered Snapper ($18), Buffalo Mozzarella Salad ($10) and Roasted Half Chicken with Fragrant Pilaf ($16).
