Iced Matcha
In the midst of much flurry, even a simple tea (I don't mean the drink) becomes ultra lux. Spending a late afternoon unwinding in a nice al fresco cafe with colourful mosaic tiles lining each table sipping green tea - while vaguely brushing off the fact that everyone else is zooming past you in pursuit of a certain sort of hecticness that they call life - is surprisingly good for the soul. I guess it helps when you're looking for somewhere accessible, yet still somewhat detached from the crowd. This particular branch at Raffles City is pretty much perfect.
Salmon Sashimi Salad
The salmon sashimi salad (single portion) comes with just 2 slices of sashimi, which may be a little lacking, but was still pleasant and refreshing.
Kani Salad Gunkan
The kani salad gunkan sushi (M's favourite) was surprisingly tasty! I liked that the kani wasn't in fine strips, but rather chunky, which worked very well.
Mango and Avocado Salmon Roll
I had a strong salmon sashimi craving that day, and I guess it shows! This was pretty good. The avocado's not visible cause it's hidden within the roll itself. I just wished the mayonnaise they used wasn't the sweet kind, but the Japanese kind that I love and have gotten used to having in Japanese restaurants.
Dark clouds were looming by the time we finished having tea, and it was raining when we had to walk back. But that's okay, it was a really great afternoon.
