PepeNero, Stanley Street, Singapore - Homely, Seductive Italian

Wednesday, May 23, 2012
PepeNero
Home-made Bread, PepeNerobalsamic vinegar and olive oil, PepeNero
Interior, Home-made Bread, Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil

PepeNero - a relatively new kid on the block that has stolen my heart. The interior is simple but snazzy. There are the usual pristine white tablecloths and cream-coloured chairs, but a pop of green on one side of the walls keeps the look fresh. I prayed that the bread would be served warm, and couldn't be happier when it was. Crisp, soft and airy, the home-made bread and grissini (breadsticks) were perfect for the accompanying pomodoro pesto and olive tapenade. It's wonderful to go beyond olive oil and balsamic vinegar for bread, sometimes.

Mondo Mio, Robertson Quay, Singapore - Fantastic Place for Pasta

Monday, January 30, 2012
Mondo Mio, Robertson Quay, Singapore
Nautical Mural, Mondo Mio

Robertson quay is a marvelous treasure trove of dining gems. For one, it houses Sugisawa, my favourite Japanese restaurant for affordable bento sets. And then, there's Brussels Sprouts, which gets their mussels right every single time. Not forgetting a slew of other gems I've yet to discover. So when my best friend, S, told me to choose a spot for dinner, my location of choice was hardly a surprise. Lo and behold our latest discovery - Mondo Mio, an incredibly cosy Italian restaurant just beside Sugisawa!

Arbite, Serangoon Gardens, Singapore

Thursday, November 25, 2010
Display of Arbite's Menus

Arbite's a modern and cosy respite from the unenviable hustle and bustle of city life. I've been so enveloped by academia lately (I still have 2 more final papers to go), but I figured it shouldn't hurt to let loose for 15 minutes to do a quick post. Coincidentally, the name arbite was inspired by the German word for work, arbeit, and this cosy restaurant firmly believes in rewarding hard work with good food at the end of the day. This whole theme is pretty apt considering M and I headed here for a dinner date in the middle of our study break after getting pretty tired of the books.

The Marmalade Pantry is just the perfect place for girlie meet ups, isn't it? This pretty flower was on every table, and really brightened up my day!

Garibaldi, Candle, Bar
Pretty candle lighting up the bar table

This was a really special surprise. It was our first anniversary, and M had been really secretive about his plans. I was so thrilled when I finally found out! We were led into the bar for a short wait, before being ushered into the main dining area.
