Complimentary Bread with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar
Garibaldi, considered by many to be the best Italian restaurant in Singapore, has no lack of accolades. Chef-owner Roberto Galetti won Chef Of The Year 2010 just this month at the World Gourmet Summit (WGS) Awards of Excellence. Last year, he had won Restauranteur Of The Year, and Garibaldi itself had clinched Restaurant Of The Year. Their Sun-dried Tomato Focaccia with Parmesan was quite the perfect start. The bread was soft, fluffy and aromatic. I had seconds!
Amuse-bouche
We were also presented with a complimentary amuse-bouche - a creamy, milky cheese that came with a dressing. A pleasant surprise indeed.
Veal with Potatoes
Since UOB was running a promotion, we decided to have the Chef's Creation menu. Our antipasti consisted of veal with potatoes. The texture of the veal was perfect - soft and tender. I loved this!
Capesante - Hokkaido Scallop with US Green Asparagus and Truffle Emulsion
And it gets better. We ordered an additional antipasti of Hokkaido Scallops, and it was fantastic. The scallops were seared to perfection, and the truffle emulsion was really, really good.
Minestrone - Vegetable Soup with Basil Pesto
Minestrone! This good ol' soup never fails.
Conchiglie (Shell Pasta) with Gorgonzola Cheese
I loved this. Al-dente hand-made Conchiglie with a sauce of gorgonzola cheese. It was just the right balance of creamy and cheesy, and very addictive.
Pork Chop in Pomodoro Sauce
By the time we got to this, we were getting really full. What made us order an additional antipasti? The texture of the pork was great here, I liked that it had a bite to it. The tomato-based sauce went really well with the pork chop, and despite how full we were, we somehow managed to finish everything.
Dessert of the Day
Dessert! Vanilla ice-cream with apple filling in a sweetened chocolate base. I'm a fan of the ice-cream and apple filling, though the chocolate base was a tad too sweet.
Tiramisu
Just when I thought the meal had ended, the staff walked over with this(: The most memorable Tiramisu ever. Thank you M(:
