Victorian Themed Cheesecake Cafe
One step into the cafe, and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quaint, victorian-style decor adorning the walls. The decor is much more complete now than when I first stepped into the cafe more than 3 years ago - some places stay the same, others evolve. I was trying my best to capture the beautiful decor when I was stopped short by a wait staff, who pointed to a sign that said "no photography of premise" or something to that effect. She added pretty curtly that "You can take photos of yourself, but not photos of the place." Woah. What's going on? You spent so much time and effort decorating your place, and now you don't want anyone else to know how beautiful and quaint it looks? If anyone wanted to copy the decor, they don't really need photos - humans are born with memories and brains, you know.
Rum and Raisin Cheesecake, $6.90
The Rum and Raisin Cheesecake was interesting. The cheesecake itself doesn't taste of rum, but the rum-soaked raisins at the bottom was delectable. I liked that it was creamy without being too heavy.
Vanilla Chocolate Chip Cheesecake, $6.90
The Vanilla Chocolate Chip Cheesecake was sweeter (probably the vanilla flavouring, I personally don't see vanilla specks so there's probably little or no vanilla beans employed in this dessert). The texture is identical - wonderfully creamy but not too heavy. The thing is this, I know I can make these cheesecakes back home, so having it here is really just about paying more than just a little more for ambience to chill out with friends. If that's not what you have in mind, you really don't have to bother travelling to Siglap just to have their cheesecakes. Oh and remember their rules: minimum of one order per pax and no photography of premises!
